Cyprus Museum, the main archaeological Museum of Cyprus, is a seven-minute walk away from NEX. Very close to the Museum, right behind the Parliament’s building, lies the Municipal Park, where a series of festivals and parties take place especially in summertime. Close at hand you can find Paphos Gate, one of the eleven bastions of the Venetian Walls, where you can visit the Catholic Church of the Holy Cross and the medieval hall of Kasteliotissa. From there you can wand your way to the heart of the walled city or walk, on the opposite side, along the Walls (“Promahonas” as it is known) towards the Buffer Zone (known as Green Line) and Ledra Palace Pallas check point.

From NEX if you follow the opposite direction, in two minutes you can reach the “Linear Park”, which disposes of a pedestrian footpath as well as a cycling track of a few kilometers, parallel to the Pedieos river, planted with trees all the way long. Prodromou Park lies at the end of the Linear Park, with a souvlaki tavern and a playground.

By crossing through the Park, you will get to the administrative centre of Nicosia, where the Ministries of Interior and Finance are located, and reach the Cyprus Theatre Organization’s new building, surrounded by stylish pubs and wine bars. From there, you can easily jump to Themistokli Dervi Street, with its posh yet cosy bistros, brasseries and cafés. If you are an art lover, don’t miss Leventis Gallery that houses a collection of over 800 paintings from Cypriot, Greek and European artists,

In a walking distance from NEX, the so called “Trigonaki” (Little triangle) of Engomi area is to be found, where young crowds huddle around edgy discos, pubs and eateries.

In hot summertime, you can chill out and enjoy the services of two swimming pools, namely Eleon club, just three minutes on foot, and the Municipality Olympic Pool, fifteen minutes away, featuring a café, beach beds and palm trees.

Two of the biggest Universities in Cyprus are located in close distance from NEX, being easily accessible especially by bicycle. Some of the most important Embassies are also hosted at the nearby area, including those of USA, Russia, UK, Greece, Egypt and Bulgaria. On the avenue in front of NEX you can find a private hospital, a drugstore, one of the best bakeries in Nicosia, an unpretentious and casual Italian bistro, a traditional Greek pies bakery and a healthy food eatery. A local supermarket, which sells everything you might need during your stay, is located just around the corner.
